inspired by aliE

September 8, 2006

… is the theme at blue bazaar – be sure to check out the portal – its always fun to see how the everyone on the BBDT interprets the theme & this week is no exception.

i was inspired by the way ali combines patterned paper plus her use of red & circles. the photo of madi, bear & their cousins is one i captured recently & its a sentimental favourite! the kids are close in age & thy’ve always been good friends. these cousins have since moved to the NT & we’re all feeling rather sad that we’ll see them even less frequently now. gotta love the bare feet & bear’s belly button! 🙂

materials: scenic route pp, 7gypsies sticker, polar bear letter stickers, gin-x rubons, fontwerks stamp, distress ink – fired brick.

how can you not be inspired by ali?? i 1st saw her work when she was a GG at 2peas in a bucket & was drawn to her graphic style (with a twist) but more importantly, i was inspired by her voice. it’s one of the reason’s why i loved her 1st book a designer’s eye where she shares her approach to scrapbooking – it’s still one of my all-time favourite books. ali has a great eye for combining patterned paper – something which i find challenging at times – so i’m also enjoying her 2nd book a designers eye for scrapping with patterned paper! i miss seeing ali’s work in the garden at 2peas, but her monthly column in CK, studio A is always inspirational & definately a highlight of the mag. so … it was a dream come true to meet ali at kiwiscraps in sydney recently. she was friendly, sweet & down-to-earth & i thoroughly enjoyed her classes.
